About

My Philosophy

My coaching philosophy was not developed in a classroom. It was forged through some of the most difficult experiences of my life.

I am a father of three, a recovering addict/alcoholic, an amputee, and a survivor of significant, heavy medical and personal trauma. My journey has included addiction, diabetes, pancreatitis, multiple surgeries, limb loss, severe chronic pain, and the emotional and psychological challenges that followed.

Losing my leg forced me to confront questions far deeper than physical recovery: Who am I now? What does my life look like? How do I deal with anger, fear, grief, shame, and uncertainty? And how do I keep moving when I don’t feel like moving at all?

Those experiences became the foundation for The Dope Coach™.

I work with individuals who are struggling with recovery, major life transitions, setbacks, loss of identity, motivation, accountability, and the challenge of rebuilding their lives after difficult experiences.

My coaching strategies focus on practical, forward-moving tools including:

  1. Accountability: Turning intentions into consistent action.
  2. Mindset: Challenging destructive thought patterns and developing a more resilient perspective.
  3. Emotional awareness: Learning to recognize, understand, and respond to difficult emotions rather than allowing them to control behavior.
  4. Goal setting: Breaking overwhelming problems into realistic, achievable steps.
  5. Healthy coping strategies: Developing alternatives to destructive behaviors when stress, anger, fear, or emotional pain show up.
  6. Purpose: Helping clients reconnect with what gives their lives meaning.
  7. Consistency: Learning that progress doesn’t require perfection—it requires continuing to show up.

The “Plus One” philosophy: Focus on becoming just one step, one decision, or one action better than yesterday.

I don’t position myself as someone who can “fix” another person’s life. I believe the individual has to do the work—but nobody should have to figure it all out alone.

My role is to actively listen without judgment, challenge when necessary, provide structure and accountability, and help clients identify the next move when life feels overwhelming.
